Why does the liberal media call the current tax rate a tax cut?


They are the rates and Democrats want to increase the tax rates again.
A cut is the immediate action. Once they are cut it is the Tax Rate.
To increase the Tax Rate is a Tax Increase.

EchoMan 		It really is a TAX INCREASE being proposed but. like the government, the colluding media wants everyone to believe that what they do not have, meaning monies earned by you, is theirs to take! This is also why they claim it will "hurt the deficit" when it is not even part of the equation unless they count money not taken from you yet as THEIRS ALREADY... They, like the government, have obviously never heard of the "Laffer Curve"...

brandonm 		UH because the current tax rate is the end product of a temporary tax CUT given by Bush!!

So when the tax cuts expire, it isn't a tax increase but rather an expiration of tax cuts!!!

vinwubulldogs 		No, they were temporary tax cuts that didn't work, it was a major giveback to the rich that donated to the Bush campaign in 2000 and is outdated.

MDcpa05 		The bill that was passed was to have an expiration date, therefore it was a temporary tax cut at that time, it was never meant to be permanent.

crussmba 		Because the tax rate was cut as way of giving part of our trillion dollar surplus back to the people. However, we sort of lost the being prosperous game and are now deep deep deep in the hole. They refer to it as a cut because that is the correct term for it.

mikebadj 		Current taxes are way to high as it is. I pay more in taxes then others pay in 10 years. HOW IS THIS FAIR?!?!?! We need a fair tax system that is equal for all Americans, regardless of income.

crussmba 		Because the republicans pushed through the tax cuts under reconciliation and the 10 years runs out Jan. 1st. Don't you know this stuff by now?

DorthyP 		The Stimulus Bill under Obama provided a tax break for a majority of Americans. That was immediate action.

Obama wishes to extend the Bush tax cuts, but only for those earning less than $250,000. Some Democrats want the tax cuts to extend to those earning less than $1,000,000 in order to make a grander point.

janetmok 		The tax cuts were ALWAYS set to EXPIRE when they were PASSED. What part of that do you not understand?

This would be neither a tax cut nor a tax increase. but it would be the return to their previous rate from when it was passed.
