A) The top tax rate coming out of WWII was high. However, demand for US products was artificially kept high by the fact that industry in European and Pacific rim countries were demolished. They bought everything from the US. Tax rates on the rich didn't matter. This situation changed by the by the Kennedy Administration. He was all for tax cuts. They were passed posthumously under Johnson and led to an economic boom.
B) Reagan and Bush 41 did increase the debt collectively by 3.1 trillion. They were fighting this little thing called the Cold War. They fought the Soviets on the economic battlefield, the Soviets couldn't keep up and collapsed. What they spent in twelve years, Obama has almost spent in two. Yes, Bush 43 spent a lot. That's part of the reason why the Tea Parties were created in the first place. They and actual Conservatives are fed up with both the left and right of this country over out-of-control spending.
C) Yeah, you're right. Reagan did give amnesty. It seemed like a good idea at time, but it didn't fix the problem. Conservatives know better now, what's the Liberals' excuse?
