What should I select and why? Guarenteed return at 10 year treasury rate or option to invest?


I have the option to invest 3500 per year at either the 10 year treasury rate or the option to invest this 3500 per year in securities. The treasury rate investment also has a 1500 per year credit for retirement health care.

Both are current pre-tax (401k type).

I plan on working for about 30 more years.

noamnoam 		Based on the fact that you plan on working for 30 or more years, invest in securities. You are taking more risk investing in securities, but with the extended time horizon, you can afford the risk. You won't even keep up with the rate of inflation with treasuries.
