Where to put allowance for bad debt?


I was given a problem to reorganize items on a balance sheet in their correct order, I have everything in order, but am unsure as to where I would put Allowance for Bad Debt expense?

CPAinLA 		Put Accounts Receivable (net) which will be your A/R balance less your Allowance for Bad Debts.

noamnoam 		The "Allowance for Bad Debts" is a contra-asset account that is netted against the "Accounts Receivable" on the asset portion of the balance sheet. However, if you are referring to "Allowance for Bad Debt Expense", that would be included on the income statement along with other operating expenses and decrease the net income accordingly. Is it possible that the account listed should not be included on the balance sheet (other than to lower the net income)?
