How do I slot a warranty on my balance sheet?


I'm preparing a balance sheet for my company, and I just purchased a computer with a 3-year warranty. How do I slot the warranty on my balance sheet? Is it an asset that would depreciate over three years, or is this an immediate expense I should charge to my P&L?
