What's the difference between SFAS and FAS FASB pronouncements?


I'm studying for the CPA exam, and I know that some of FASB's pronouncements are referred to as FAS and then a number, and some are SFAS and a number. They don't seem to preclude each other (numbers are not repeated) and there are newer FAS numbers and newer SFAS numbers. What's the difference?

SteinS 		I finished the exam about a year ago. There is no difference. Some people leave off the "S" and some don't. When you speak, you usually leave it off, but the proper way to document it is to include the S.
